CCBO Visits Eco Kolek Route
Today marked another milestone for Project Eco Kolek as our mentors from USAID’s Clean Cities, Blue Ocean (CCBO) joined us, alongside community leaders from Jacana, in visiting one of the coastal communities that will soon be part of our official waste collection route.

Today marked another milestone for Project Eco Kolek as our mentors from USAID’s Clean Cities, Blue Ocean (CCBO) joined us, alongside community leaders from Jacana, in visiting one of the coastal communities that will soon be part of our official waste collection route.
The visit was not just about mapping out routes—it was about building relationships, listening to the voices of the people, and envisioning together what a cleaner, healthier community could look like. Walking through the area with our partners reminded us of why this work matters: every piece of plastic we collect means one less item polluting our seas, threatening marine life, or putting our children’s health at risk.
Our Eco-Warriors, many of whom come from these very communities, are at the heart of this effort. Soon, they will not only be visible in neighborhoods but will also stand as symbols of dignity, empowerment, and environmental stewardship. They are proof that waste pickers—when equipped, valued, and organized—can become true champions of sustainability.
We are filled with gratitude for our mentors at CCBO for walking alongside us and for our community partners who share in this vision. Together, we are not just building a waste collection system—we are building hope, pride, and resilience for Puerto Princesa’s future. 💙💙💙
