PUERTO PRINCESA CITY — Eco Kolek participated as a guest speaker in the 2026 Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O) Symposium held on February 26, 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen environmental awareness among students.
The symposium focused on environmental awareness and sustainability practices, bringing together students to discuss current environmental issues and the role of youth in addressing them. YES-O, a student-led organization, organized the activity to promote environmental education, conservation, and responsible community engagement within schools.
During the event, Eco Kolek presented the concept of the circular economy, explaining how waste materials can be recovered and reused instead of being discarded. The presentation also introduced students to the work of Eco Warriors, community-based waste collectors who support recycling and waste reduction initiatives.
Eco Kolek representatives emphasized the importance of proper waste segregation, recycling practices, and responsible consumption as part of everyday environmental action. Students were encouraged to take part in sustainable practices within their schools and communities.
Organizers said the symposium aimed to provide young participants with practical knowledge on environmental stewardship and to encourage them to become active contributors to local sustainability efforts.
The activity forms part of continuing initiatives to engage the youth sector in environmental programs and strengthen awareness of waste management and resource conservation.
