Eco Kolek Team Undergoes Coaching with CCBO Mentors

The Project Eco Kolek team recently had the opportunity to undergo a Training of Trainers (TOT) session with our mentors from USAID’s Clean Cities, Blue Ocean (CCBO). This coaching session was designed to strengthen our team’s technical knowledge and deepen our understanding of both national and local laws on solid waste management.

The training went beyond just theory—it was about equipping our team with the tools and confidence to become better educators and leaders within our communities. By understanding the legal frameworks such as RA 9003 (Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000) and local ordinances, the Eco Kolek team can now more effectively cascade this knowledge to our Eco-Warriors, barangay partners, and households.

One of the most valuable aspects of the session was the interactive discussions with CCBO mentors, who generously shared their experiences and insights on best practices in implementing community-based waste solutions. Their guidance reminded us that while policies are important, it is the people—our Eco-Warriors and empowered communities—who bring these laws to life.

This coaching strengthened not just our technical expertise but also our sense of mission. With the support of CCBO, we are more prepared to continue advocating for waste reduction, segregation at source, and community-driven circular economy solutions.

As one team member shared after the session: “Mas malinaw na ngayon ang papel namin. Hindi lang kami kolektor ng basura—kami ay tagapagturo, tagapagtaguyod, at kasama ng komunidad sa laban para sa kalinisan.”
