Eco Warriors’ Association Elects Officers, Initiates DOLE Registration
The Eco Warriors’ Association of Barangay Sicsican elected a new set of officers during a general assembly at the Barangay Sicsican Hall. The election marks the beginning of the group’s transition into a formally recognized organization.


PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan – The Eco Warriors’ Association of Barangay Sicsican elected a new set of officers during a general assembly at the Barangay Sicsican Hall. The election marks the beginning of the group’s transition into a formally recognized organization.
Facilitated by the Project Zacchaeus (PZC) Eco Kolek team, the meeting focused on professionalizing the association and securing official registration with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
Leadership and Formalization
Members participated in the nomination and election process to select the new leadership team. Following the election, the officers committed to leading the association's initiatives in waste management and community service.
Ms. Joyce Oliverio, Eco Kolek’s Community Engagement Officer, presented the necessary requirements for DOLE registration. She stated that formal recognition is essential for the group to access government support, capacity-building programs, and livelihood opportunities.
Capacity Building and Operations
The assembly also conducted a Training Capacity Needs Assessment (TCNA) to identify priority areas for skills development. Based on the assessment, the association agreed to schedule a two-day refresher course covering waste segregation, community engagement, and leadership.
Mr. Dennis Creach S. Barcelona, Eco Kolek’s Operations Officer, introduced new guidelines for the use of official vehicles. The policies mandate proper documentation and maintenance to ensure safety and accountability in field operations.
The meeting concluded with the association affirming its commitment to environmental protection efforts in Puerto Princesa.
