Eco-Warriors Orient for Project Rules and Regulations

The orientation covered practical matters such as proper handling of collection tools and vehicles, safety procedures, and protocols for managing the consolidation facility. Just as important, it also emphasized the right attitude and behavior expected of every Eco-Warrior. The session highlighted the values of respect, integrity, and accountability, reminding everyone that they are not just waste collectors, but community leaders and environmental stewards.

As the Eco Kolek Project moves closer to its trial operations this month, our Eco-Warriors recently underwent a comprehensive orientation on the project’s rules and regulations. This important session served as both a guide and a reminder of the standards they must uphold—not only in using the project’s equipment and facilities, but also in demonstrating professionalism, discipline, and teamwork in every aspect of their work.

Each Eco-Warrior was provided with a written copy of the rules and discussion points. They were encouraged to ask questions and raise concerns to ensure that everything was clear before operations begin. Many of them actively participated, showing eagerness to understand their responsibilities and to contribute to the success of the project.

For some, this was the first time they experienced such a structured orientation. “This training makes us feel valued,” shared one Eco-Warrior. “Now, we know that what we are doing is not just a job, but a mission for the community and the environment.”

Brian Agustin, Eco Kolek Operations Officer, expressed his gratitude for their dedication:
“We are indeed thankful for the interest and sacrifices of our Eco-Warriors. Despite the weekly trainings, they are always present and excited to learn. Their commitment inspires us to keep improving this program for them.”

The orientation marked another step forward in transforming informal waste pickers into empowered Eco-Warriors—individuals who carry not just bags of collected plastics, but also the dignity and pride of serving as protectors of Puerto Princesa’s environment.

With clearer guidelines and stronger foundations, the Eco Kolek team is now more ready than ever to begin operations and set an inspiring example for the community.
