Eco-Warriors Receive Entrepreneurship Training, Focus on Upcycled Holiday Crafts

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, PALAWAN – October 29, 2025—Project Zacchaeus (PZC) Eco Kolek with its partners: PEMSEA and UNDP; conducted an entrepreneurship training session for its Eco-Warriors, focusing on basic product development and upcycling skills. The training, held at the SK Building in Purok Pinetree, aimed to promote sustainable livelihood opportunities by converting fabric scraps into marketable Christmas ornaments.
The session, titled "Entrepreneurship: Christmas Ball Making," was executed in partnership with Barangay Sicsican, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of Laphipay, and resource person Ms. Lira Princess G. Cadorna of Art Cadence.
Focus on Product Development
The workshop provided participants with structured instruction on creating a micro-enterprise. Ms. Cadorna detailed the complete product development cycle, from idea generation and material selection to prototyping, finishing, and market strategy. The core hands-on activity involved transforming old shirts and scrap fabric into unique Christmas balls. The training staff actively assisted the participants, ensuring comprehension of the skills needed for replication at home.
Market Simulation and Livelihood Potential
A Buyer’s Choice Game followed the hands-on session, where groups presented their finished upcycled ornaments. This market simulation allowed participants to receive feedback on product presentation and market value, reinforcing the livelihood potential of recycled crafts.
The training successfully met its objective of equipping Eco-Warriors with practical skills for sustainable entrepreneurship. The activity also strengthened community participation and promoted circular economy principles among the engaged participants.
