Eco-Warriors Train with Their Kids!

There is something truly heartwarming about seeing families learning and growing together. In the weekly community training of our Eco-Warriors, a unique and joyful scene has started to unfold — their children are joining them in the sessions, turning every meeting into both an educational activity and a bonding experience.

There is something truly heartwarming about seeing families learning and growing together. In the weekly community training of our Eco-Warriors, a unique and joyful scene has started to unfold — their children are joining them in the sessions, turning every meeting into both an educational activity and a bonding experience.

Before each training begins, facilitators usually give the floor to participants to showcase their talents through singing, dancing, or short performances. What began as a simple icebreaker has now become a highlight of the program. With enthusiasm and confidence, the children of Eco-Warriors step forward alongside their parents, dancing and singing with so much energy, joy, and gusto. Their presence doesn’t just entertain — it changes the atmosphere entirely, filling the room with laughter, encouragement, and inspiration.

The involvement of kids in these sessions is more than just fun. It has become an important tool for teamwork and unity within families and the community. Children witness firsthand the dedication of their parents to environmental advocacy, while parents are encouraged and motivated by the pride and excitement of their kids. It is a powerful example of learning by doing — and learning together.

For Project Zacchaeus’ Eco Kolek, this intergenerational participation is especially meaningful. Waste management and environmental stewardship are not just the work of adults; they are values and practices that must be passed down to the next generation. By engaging children in small but impactful ways — whether through games, talent showcases, or joining in discussions — the program is planting seeds of responsibility and environmental consciousness early on.

As one Eco-Warrior shared: “Mas masarap mag-training kapag kasama ang mga anak namin. Nakikita nila kung gaano kahalaga ang ginagawa namin, at natututo na rin sila para sa kinabukasan nila.”

The weekly trainings are no longer just about skills-building and technical knowledge — they have evolved into family-centered events where resilience, creativity, and hope thrive. By bringing children into the fold, Eco Kolek is not only strengthening the capacity of today’s Eco-Warriors but also nurturing the Eco-Warriors of tomorrow.
