On March 15th, Project Zacchaeus (PZC) and its Eco Kolek initiative had the distinct honor of hosting a delegation of heads and thought leaders from the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). Traveling from their Washington D.C. headquarters and other Western countries, their visit underscored the growing international interest in community-based circular economy models.
Eco-Warriors Share Their Stories
A highlight of the visit was the direct interaction between the ICMA delegation and our dedicated Eco-Warriors. This invaluable experience provided the Eco-Warriors with a platform to share their personal journeys and the challenges and successes of their work. The exchange significantly boosted their confidence and sense of pride in their essential role as environmental frontliners.
We presented the full Eco Kolek narrative, emphasizing our journey of co-creation and innovation in developing sustainable, community-based business models. Key to this success are our strong public and private sector partnerships, including those with USAID’s Clean Cities, Blue Ocean (CCBO) program and the City Government of Puerto Princesa.
Discussions on Sustainable Governance
Our discussions with the ICMA experts were rich and covered critical topics essential for sustainable community development, including leadership and empowerment, advanced waste management strategies, agriculture, and food security.
We were humbled by the ICMA's interest in learning more about the grassroots development work we are undertaking. We were also delighted to connect with a pioneering expert from USAID CCBO in Washington D.C., gaining valuable insights from their vast experience.
We express our deepest gratitude to ICMA for taking the time to visit and engage with our team. We firmly believe that strong public-private partnerships are essential to co-create sustainable solutions that genuinely improve the well-being of our grassroots communities.
Thank you, USAID Philippines and CCBO, for providing us with the opportunity to showcase our impact to this esteemed global group.
