Iris Darline Cacal:

As part of our "Voices of Circular Economy" series, Eco Kolek is proud to introduce Iris Darline Cacal, our new Community Engagement Officer. Iris brings a wealth of knowledge and passion for community work, combined with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Palawan State University, where she also passed the Social Worker Licensure Exam. With her background in social work and her experience in community immersion, Iris is poised to make a significant impact in Eco Kolek’s mission to promote sustainable waste management practices across Puerto Princesa and beyond.

"Engaging the public is about creating meaningful connections that inspire individuals to change their waste habits for the better. I am committed to making environmental education accessible and exciting so that everyone feels empowered to be part of the solution," Iris explains.

Iris’ journey with Eco Kolek is shaped by her background in social work. She has always had a passion for community development, which led her to pursue a degree in Social Work. Her education equipped her with the skills to understand and address the needs of vulnerable communities. In her previous roles, she was involved in community immersion programs, where she connected with local people to understand their concerns, challenges, and aspirations. These experiences have made her especially attuned to the needs of the communities Eco Kolek serves, giving her the insights needed to design impactful community engagement strategies.

For Iris, true community engagement goes beyond just providing information; it’s about creating an environment where people feel heard, valued, and motivated to take action.
