Mitchell Gimena:
Leading Eco Kolek's Communications for Environmental Impact

As part of our "Voices of Circular Economy" series, Eco Kolek is excited to introduce Mitchell Gimena, our new Director of Communications. With over 11 years of experience in communications, particularly with Pilipinas Shell and the Malampaya Deep-Water-Gas-To-Power Project, Mitchell is bringing his vast expertise in strategic communication to Eco Kolek. As one of the founders of Project Zacchaeus, a grassroots initiative focused on environmental conservation, Mitchell’s leadership is a perfect fit for Eco Kolek’s mission to create lasting environmental change through effective communication.

"My goal is to bridge the gap between grassroots action and global awareness by telling the authentic stories of our Eco Warriors. Through strategic communication, we turn hidden efforts into a celebrated movement for environmental justice and social inclusion," Mitchell shares.

A Diverse and Accomplished Background

Mitchell’s communications experience spans various industries, including energy, real estate, technology, and social enterprises. His role with Pilipinas Shell involved managing PR and media relations for the Malampaya Natural Gas Project, where he organized hundreds of events and handled communications campaigns for over 10 years. He also contributed to monitoring key performance indicators for over 25 sustainable development programs focused on health, livelihood, education, and environmental conservation in Palawan.

His experience doesn’t stop there. Mitchell has also led strategic marketing and communications initiatives in real estate, digital services, and social enterprises. As founder and CEO of Breakthrough Digital Studios, he developed social media strategies, branding, and digital content for various industries, from e-commerce to video editing and advertising. This experience gives Mitchell a well-rounded skill set in both public relations and digital communication, making him uniquely positioned to enhance Eco Kolek’s communication efforts.

At Eco Kolek, Mitchell’s primary responsibility is to amplify the voices of the organization’s Eco Warriors — the individuals who are on the ground, working to make waste management and environmental sustainability a reality. Through storytelling and strategic media outreach, Mitchell ensures that these workers’ efforts are not only recognized but celebrated on a global scale.
