Nearly 2.5 Tonnes of Recyclables Recovered as Eco Kolek Recognizes Most Active Collectors
The PZC-Eco Kolek Program recovered 2,498.56 kilograms of recyclable materials from three puroks over a three-month collection period, and on August 15, 2026, recognized the Eco Warriors whose consistent participation drove those results at its 2nd Quarter Culminating Activity. The gathering brought together 21 Eco Warriors from Barangay Sicsican and Barangay Bancao-Bancao and 10 PZC-Eco Kolek staff members. It capped the program's Recyclables Collection and Active Participation Incentive Activity, conducted from May to July 2026 in Purok Mahogany, Purok Firetree, and Purok Talisay to promote proper waste segregation, encourage regular household participation, and increase the recovery of recyclable materials.

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan — The PZC-Eco Kolek Program recovered 2,498.56 kilograms of recyclable materials from three puroks over a three-month collection period, and on August 15, 2026, recognized the Eco Warriors whose consistent participation drove those results at its 2nd Quarter Culminating Activity.
The gathering brought together 21 Eco Warriors from Barangay Sicsican and Barangay Bancao-Bancao and 10 PZC-Eco Kolek staff members. It capped the program's Recyclables Collection and Active Participation Incentive Activity, conducted from May to July 2026 in Purok Mahogany, Purok Firetree, and Purok Talisay to promote proper waste segregation, encourage regular household participation, and increase the recovery of recyclable materials.
Purok Talisay led all participating communities with 1,267.66 kilograms collected, accounting for more than half of the total. Purok Firetree followed with 711.90 kilograms, and Purok Mahogany contributed 519.00 kilograms.
Throughout the collection period, the program monitored both the attendance of Eco Warriors and the volume of materials recovered in each purok, providing a basis for recognizing its most dedicated participants.
Sheila Patiño of Purok Firetree posted the highest attendance, taking part in 13 collection activities. She was followed by Irene Aspa with 11 and Janet Coroña with 9. In Purok Mahogany, Mela Bacosa recorded 9 participations, while Rowena Del Rosario led Purok Talisay with 8.
Incentives were awarded to Eco Warriors who joined multiple collection activities, recognizing their commitment and encouraging broader participation in future collections. Among those recognized were Cindy Alulod, Rowena Del Rosario, and Sheila Patiño.
During the program, Ms. Joycee Oliverio reminded the Eco Warriors of the importance of wearing complete personal protective equipment during every collection activity to ensure their safety and protection in the field.
The results reflect the growing practice of waste segregation among participating households and the central role of the Eco Warriors in connecting those households to the recycling value chain. By pairing systematic monitoring with recognition of consistent participation, the program continues to build the habits and accountability that underpin a functioning circular economy at the community level.
