Project Zacchaeus Proudly Celebrates International Women’s Month
At Project Zacchaeus, we honor the incredible women who embody leadership, passion, and resilience in advancing our mission for communities and the environment.

First, meet Shellemai—fondly called “She” by our team—our ever-reliable and vibrant Deputy Project Director. Her love for the environment began at a young age, growing up with parents who served as missionaries to the Pala’wan indigenous people. This early exposure to community service shaped her appreciation for nature and people. She graduated Magna Cum Laude, is now a licensed urban and environmental planner, and is completing her Master’s Degree in Development Management at the Asian Institute of Management. She is a true example of excellence anchored on service.

Then there’s Jofer, the strong and steady woman behind our Admin and Finance. More than being our accountant, her heart for community development shines through. She has personally organized initiatives for an indigenous community in Bubusawin, spending weekends teaching children, visiting families, and helping strengthen their resilience and productivity.

And of course, Nanay Lydia, our inspiring community leader in the Jacana waste picker community. Growing up in the slums never dampened her spirit—she chose to lead with passion for change. Now a proud grandmother, caring for her granddaughter gives her renewed hope and drive as she continues to inspire her community.
This Women’s Month, we celebrate She, Jofer, Nanay Lydia, and all women who stand as pillars of strength, leadership, and compassion in building a better, more sustainable future.
